In my heart, design is dead.
The flare of passion I had during my years in undergrad and the desperate flailing that came after is no longer relevant. It is dead. A husk like the hollow seedpods after a failed period of pollination.
From now on, whatever designs I come up with is not because of the passion -- the yearning I have for making beautiful and functional objects, but is in spite the lack of them.
Design is dead. Long live art!
From today forth, I declare the transition from function-based design by Ryo to a pure and stubborn aesthetic-focused design by someone formerly known as Ryo. I reject function. I have realized that most optimization in products have already been done. All that is left now is beauty.
Oh, but design my dear, I do not hold a grudge. You are simply dead, so I must move on.
I have decided to invest more time in sculpture, the only constant in my life.
But remember: design might be dead, but zombies are not.
