People are fundamentally the same. Whether the traveler chooses breadth over depth is up to the individual. In life, I chose breadth, but this trip taught me that I am perfectly satisfied with depth. A short trip is much like life. Too fleeting to accomplish everything. Design in Japan isn’t avant-garde. They may be innovative at first glance, but they have their own share of issues. The difference lies in the differences of values. People’s tolerance for certain things depends on the cultural and societal norms. Japanese are not fashionable per-se. They are simply very good at putting together a wardrobe. Meandering is good. Unplanned days are the most fruitful of my time. Hiroshima is the most Toronto-like of the Japanese cities. I’ve never truly understood the hallowing, destructive, and cruel nature of human beings until I’ve visited Hiroshima.
