I like to sculpt clay as a hobby. I have a few dentistry tools, but I’ve always wanted to expand my sculpting toolbox. Sure, I could just buy some tools from the local arts and craft store, but I have hands, so it’ll be a shame not to use it to make my own custom sculpting tools.
So I did.
Tools are made from scrap maple. The forms are based roughly on some existing designs found in local arts and craft stores. The rough forms are cut using a bandsaw, formed using a belt sander, and finished with tung oil. Overall, a simple but useful one-day project.
